
Chris Williams Grand Slam Leads Surge to Win

Wichita Wind Surge News Release
Wichita, KS- The Wind Surge defeated the Arkansas Travelers 11-5 on Thursday night as the Surge tallied 15 hits and three homers to win their third straight game.
Andrew Bechtold and Chris Williams led the way for Wichita as Williams hit two homers and finished three for five with six RBIs. Bechtold went four for five at the plate with an RBI.
Wichita took an early 2-0 lead in the second inning as Bechtold hit a solo home run and Williams followed with an RBI double.
Williams hit his second grand slam of the season in the bottom of the third inning that gave the Surge a commanding 6-0 lead.
Surge newcomer Christian Encarnacion-Strand hit a two-run RBI double in the bottom of the fifth in his Double-A debut. The hit extended the lead to 10-1.
Travelers' catcher Jake Anchia hit a three-run homer in the top of the sixth inning and Cade Marlowe followed with an RBI single that cut the deficit to 10-5.
Notes: The Surge improved to 6-1 in Turbo Tubs uniforms... Wichita scored double-digit runs for the third consecutive game... Wichita is now 35-8 when scoring five or more runs...
Coming Up: The Wind Surge will resume action against the Arkansas Travelers tomorrow, July 15th. First pitch is at 7:05 and gates open at 6:00.
