
Chourio Named to SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game

ZEBULON - Full rosters for the 2022 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game were announced today by Major League Baseball and Carolina Mudcats outfielder Jackson Chourio was one of two Milwaukee Brewers prospects nominated to play in the upcoming showcase event scheduled to be played on Saturday, July 16, at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
Chourio joins former Mudcat and current Wisconsin Timber Rattlers pitcher Antoine Kelly as the two Brewers prospects nominated to the National League team. At just 18 years old, Chourio is the youngest player chosen to play in the annual All-Star event.
The Venezuelan born Chourio originally began the 2022 season in extended spring training before joining the Mudcats on May 3. Since his assignment to Carolina, the recently named No. 1 overall prospect in the Brewers system, has gone on to hit .319/.371/.587 with a .958 OPS, 42 runs, 68 hits, 17 doubles, five triples, 10 home runs and 39 RBI over 53 games played.
At the time of the Futures Game roster announcement, Chourio led qualified Carolina League batters in batting average (.319) and was second in both slugging (.587) and OPS (.958). Chourio was also seventh in doubles (17), fourth in extra-base hits (32) and eighth in total bases (120).
The Brewers signed, the then-16-year-old, Chourio on January 15, 2021. He was then assigned to the Dominican Summer League where he would make his professional debut with the DSL Brewers 1 on June 8, 2021. He has since spent most of the 2022 season in the Carolina League with the Mudcats and has been the youngest player in full-season affiliated baseball since his debut on May 3.
Former Mudcats outfielder Corey Ray was the last Mudcats player to play in the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game during his tenure with Carolina.
