Chops return home Friday

October 23, 2008 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Iowa Chops News Release

By Steve Nitzel, President of the Iowa Chops

I sat down with the bigshots from KGGO and KJJY radio stations. I told them I wanted to throw the biggest pre-game tailgate parties in the history of hockey. They asked how big? I said I wanted to fill up Hy-Vee Hall and Vets Auditorium with just the bands alone. They said that was an outrageous goal but they would do it. And I wanted our fans to be really pumped up before they came to the game. No problem, they said. They could handle it. "What else?", they asked. I told them I wanted to create a place inside the arena to keep the fun going once the game started. So they helped us create the coolest place in sports this winter.

THE PARTY ZONE

We eliminated seven rows of seats and put 10 high top tables and lots of chairs in their place. And we put them right next to the glass. And then we put in some games, like bubble hockey and cool video games. We added a couch and a loveseat so if you wanted to just hang out with your friends and party you could do that. We made sure there were lots of food and drink specials nearby. And we added a tattoo artist that will provide airbrushed tattoos. That would be awesome. We even thought it would be cool to get a haircut too. "This was some idea," they said.

BEST SEVEN GAMES

So then we created a seven game package that gave you all of the following.

- A ticket to each live pre-game party and tailgate with a live band.

- 10% off the box office price on game night.

- A FREE guaranteed premium
