Goaltender Steve Mason Assigned to Crunch; Two Other Roster Moves Announced

Syracuse, NY (October 23, 2008) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned goaltender Steve Mason to the Crunch. In addition, the Crunch have loaned goaltender Sebastian Dahm to Johnstown (ECHL) and recalled center Ryan Garlock from Johnstown.

Mason, 20, appeared in 42 combined games with London and Kitchener (OHL) last season, going 32-7-3 with a 2.51 goals-against average and .916 save percentage. He was the goaltender for gold medal-winning Team Canada at the 2008 World Junior Championships, compiling a 5-0-0 record with a 1.19 goals-against average, .951 save percentage and one shutout, while also earning top goaltender and tournament MVP honors.

A native of Oakville, Ontario, Mason was drafted by Columubus in the third round, 69th overall, in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

Dahm, 21, has appeared in two games for the Crunch this season, going 0-1-0 with a 5.31 goals-against average and .875 save percentage. A native of Copenhagen, Denmark, Dahm was signed by the Crunch to an American Hockey League contract on September 1, 2008.

Garlock, 22, has appeared in three games with Johnstown this season, posting two goals and one assist. Last season, he skated in 51 games with Johnstown, registering 26 goals, 35 assists and 61 penalty minutes. A native of Iroquois Falls, Ontario, Garlock was originally drafted by Chicago in the second round, 45th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

The Crunch continue their 15th AHL season on Friday, October 24 for a home match-up against Binghamton and Saturday, October 25, as they take on Rochester at the War Memorial at Oncenter.
