The Canadian Hockey League has announced details for the 2012 CHL Import Draft which takes place on Wednesday June 27, 2012, beginning at 9:00 am Eastern.

The two-round draft will take place online with the order of selection rotating through each of the CHL's three leagues using an inverse order of final regular season standings from the 2011-12 season. Each team in the CHL is permitted to carry two European import players each season who are selected annually through the CHL Import Draft.

The Rangers have placed import forward Radek Faksa on the NHL Reserve List, providing the team an opportunity to pick at position number 108 in this year's selection.

In 2011, Kitchener selected Faksa with the 22nd overall pick in the CHL Import Draft. The 18-year old Czech-native was a three-time Ontario Hockey League rookie of the year in 2011-12, and was recently drafted by the Dallas Stars with the 13th overall pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

The QMJHL's Moncton Wildcats used their number one pick in Wednesday's CHL Import Draft to select Russian winger Ivan Barbashev. Last year, the OHL London Knights used the first overall pick to select defenceman Olli Maatta of Finland, who went on to be chosen 22nd overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins at the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
