5 Things to Know About #CHIvFCD

The Brimstone Cup

FC Dallas (then Dallas Burn) and Chicago Fire's rivalry started when Chicago Fire joined the league in 1998. It is considered the longest rivalry in FC Dallas history, but the actual Brimstone Cup wasn't created until 2001. The rivalry was the first fan-driven MLS trophy based on the season series between the two clubs, with Chicago's Section 8 and Dallas' Inferno supporters groups contracting out the R.S. Owens Corporation, the makers of the Academy Awards since 1982, to produce the Cup. The Brimstone Cup is awarded to the team with the most points in games played between both teams, with FC Dallas leading the Brimstone Cup all-time series with an 18-11-5 record.

Goal-Scoring Defenders

FC Dallas boasts the two highest scoring defenders in MLS with left-back Ryan Hollingshead and center-back Reto Ziegler. Hollingshead leads the way with six goals and three assists this year, making it the most prolific season of his career. Captain Ziegler stands at five goals- four penalties and one free-kick.

Cobra Strikes Again

Zdenek "Cobra" Ondrasek scored his fourth goal in three games against FC Cincinnati. Since being subbed in against Montreal at 3-0 down on August 17, Cobra has contributed to six goals (four goals, two assists) from just 240 minutes on the field. He'll look to continue this hot streak should he feature against Chicago Fire on Saturday.

About Chicago

Chicago has won three of its last six matches to claw back to 10th place in the East after suffering a rough midseason run which saw it win only one game from 12. The Fire have been solid at home all season having only dropped two games at SeatGeek Stadium in 2019.

Against Chicago

FC Dallas has had the upper hand against Chicago over the years. Dallas leads the all-time series 22-16-4 with 77 goals scored and 65 against. Chicago has fared better at home, however, with Dallas's all-time away record standing at 8-12-2 (31 goals for, 38 against).
