
Chile Farias Named MISL Offensive Player of the Week

Baltimore, MD â The Major Indoor Soccer League announced today that Baltimore Blast forward Carlos "Chile" Farias has been named the MISL Offensive Player of the Week for the seven-day period ending January 25. This is the second time this season Farias has received this recognition from the League.
Farias, 27, recorded one assist Friday night in Baltimore's 5-4 overtime win over the Monterrey Fury and recorded three goals and two assists Saturday night in Dallas. The hat trick on Saturday was his first of the season. The native of Santiago, Chile leads the Blast in points with 40 and ranks second in the MISL in points. He also leads the League with 28 assists.
The 5-6, 155-pound forward was also named MISL Offensive Player of the Week on November 9 after posting four assists in one game. Last season Farias ranked second in the MISL in points and was named Second Team All-MISL, MISL Offensive Player of the Month for November and Player of the Week in early October. He led the Scokers in every scoring category and played for the Western Conference in the 2003 All Star Game. The Blast acquired Farias via a trade in July in exchange for defender Sean Bowers.
The Baltimore Blast (16-6, first in the Eastern Division) will host the Kansas City Comets (8-13, second in the Central Division) this Saturday night at 7:35 p.m. at 1st Mariner Arena. Saturday night is the Blast's only home game until February 21 when the team hosts the Cleveland Force.
