The Comets finished the weekend 1-1 with a loss to the San Diego Sockers and a win against the Central Division St. Louis Steamers.

Friday, January 23 at San Diego Sockers
The Comets scored first in the game, but it proved to be their only lead. The Comets were within one (3-2) in the second quarter after a Nate Houser goal at 8:13, but the Sockers scored four unanswered goals to seal the 7-2 win. Miki Djerisilo, Nate Houser and Brian Soell each finished with one point. Kansas City fell to 7-13. San Diego's defense held Kansas City to two points, which was the team's lowest point total this season.

Saturday, January 24 at St. Louis Steamers
Kansas City and St. Louis each scored one goal in the first three quarters. St. Louis held the lead briefly in the third quarter until Franck M'Bemba's goal tied the game 3-3. The teams battled to a scoreless fourth quarter. The Comets worked quickly in overtime, and Anthony Maher scored the game-winning goal at 1:57 in overtime. The Comets are now 4-1 in overtime games. Maher has scored the game-winner in four of Kansas City's eight wins.
