Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
Albuquerque, NM - The Isotopes held a four-run lead in the eighth inning but EL Paso scored nine runs in the eighth frame and held off an Albuquerque rally to propel the Chihuahuas to a 10-9 victory Saturday night at Isotopes Park.
In the box, Albuquerque finished with 16 hits and two doubles. Ryan Vilade recorded five hits and an RBI. Jonathan Morales, Jimmy Herron, Coco Montes and Sam Hilliard each recorded two hits.
The Chihuahuas took a 1-0 lead in the second on a C.J. Hinojosa solo clout.
In the home half of the frame, however, Albuquerque took a 3-1 advantage on RBI singles by Vilade and Herron and an RBI double by Montes.
The Isotopes added to their lead, 4-1, in the fifth on an RBI single by Morales. Their lead grew once again in the sixth when Vilade scampered home on a wild pitch.
However, the Chihuahuas then scored nine runs in the eighth inning on seven hits, one homer and three walks to take a 10-5 lead.
The Isotopes followed that with two runs of their own in the eighth and ninth but fell a run short.
