El Paso Chihuahuas News Release

In front of 13,035 fans for the Fourth of July at Isotopes Park Sunday night, the Albuquerque Isotopes beat the El Paso Chihuahuas 12-7.

Outfielders Tucupita Marcano and Patrick Kivlehan both hit home runs. Marcano's led off the game on the third pitch from Albuquerque starter Mychal Givens on an MLB rehab assignment, while Kivlehan's was a two-run homer in the ninth, his team-leading 16th of the season. For Marcano it is the second time this season that he has hit a home run to lead off the Chihuahuas half of the first inning.

The Chihuahuas scored their seven runs on 14 hits, including five doubles, tying their season-high for most doubles in a game this season. Marcano led the team in hits, finishing 3-for-5 with a double, home run and an RBI. Both Gosuke Katoh and Ivan Castillo, who came in the game in the fifth inning due an apparent injury on a fielding play to infielder Pedro Florimon, had two hits.

Outfielder Robbie Podorsky had a pinch-hit single in the fifth inning for his 200th professional career hit.

RHP Jose Quezada was the only El Paso pitcher to not allow a run. He pitched a hitless fifth inning.

The loss is the Chihuahuas third in the first four games of the series against the Isotopes.
