El Paso Chihuahuas News Release

The El Paso Chihuahuas beat the Salt Lake Bees 9-7 Saturday, wrapping up their sixth win in their last seven tries. The Chihuahuas took the field in the ninth inning with a 9-4 lead, but Salt Lake made it interesting, bringing the tying run to the plate with two outs. In all three games of the series thus far, the losing team has scored multiple runs in the ninth inning to get within one or two runs.

The Chihuahuas sent ten batters to the plate in a five-run fourth inning. The rally included a line drive, two-run home run by Yeison Asencio to center field, who has hit four Triple-A homers this year, all at Southwest University Park. Former San Diego Padre Wade LeBlanc allowed eight earned runs in 4.1 innings of work. It was the second time this month LeBlanc lost to the Chihuahuas. El Paso scored five runs against the lefty on August 7th in Salt Lake City.

Cody Decker went 2-for-3 with three RBIs in the win and is now ten for his last 22 with nine RBIs in that span. Jace Peterson, Jonathan Galvez and Alex Castellanos also had multi-hit games for El Paso. Relievers Stephen Kohlscheen and Chris Rearick pitched scoreless outings for the Chihuahuas.
