Fresno Grizzlies News Release

FRESNO, Calif. - On the last Friday Night Fireworks of the season, 11,037 fans decked in orange and black made for a lively crowd at Chukchansi Park. The rautious crowd energized the Fresno Grizzlies (66-75), but the team let a two-run lead slip away in the final three innings to lose 9-7 to the Tacoma Rainiers (73-68).

Chris Dominguez moved past the 80 RBI plateau by cracking a first inning game-tying three-run homer (21), making him one of three players in all of minor league baseball this season to record at least 20 doubles, 20 home runs, 20 stolen bases and 80 RBI.

Tacoma responded with two runs in the third to grab a 5-3 lead, but Fresno bit back in the bottom half by scoring four runs on four hits. Dominguez collected his fourth RBI of the night by singling in Duvall to tie the game, while Brandon Hicks smoked a two-out two-run homer on a 3-2 pitch to give Fresno a 7-5 lead. It marked the third straight game Hicks has homered, making him the third Fresno player this season to accomplish such a streak (others, Adam Duvall and Chris Dominguez). The last time Hicks homered in three straight games was from August 21-23, 2012 with Triple-A Sacramento.

Fresno starter Kelvin Marte (ND; 4ER/6.0 IP) tossed a full six innings for the fourth time in his six starts. After issuing five runs (four earned) over the first three frames, Marte managed to keep Tacoma scoreless and went on to retire the final 10 batters he faced as he was in line for the win.

However, reliever Adam Reifer (L, 5-3) and Mitchell Boggs (1 ER/1.0 IP) combined to allow four runs over the final three frames to hand Tacoma the victory. Reifer struggled to keep the ball inside the park, allowing a game-tying homer to Stefen Romero (11) in the seventh and a go-ahead solo blast to Leury Bonilla (2) in the eighth. Reifer is 0-3 with a 9.41 ERA (23 ER/22.0 IP) over his last 16 appearances after going 5-0 with a 4.46 mark (20 ER/40.1 IP) to begin the season.

Mitchell Boggs allowed a solo homer to Corey Hart (3) in the ninth to hand Tacoma their ninth and final run.

The Grizzlies play their third-to-last game of the season at 7:05 p.m. PT Saturday night at Chukchansi Park. Fresno sends right-hander Austin Fleet (3-2, 4.17) to the mound to face Tacoma righty Taijuan Walker (6-4, 4.81).

As a part of the ongoing "5-4-3-2-1" ticket deal, fans can purchase Super View tickets on Saturday for only $3. The specialty deal is only available at the Chukchansi Park Box Office, which opens at 10:00 a.m. For more information on Saturday's game, visit FresnoGrizzlies.com or call 559.320.TIXS beginning at 10:00 a.m. Saturday.
