Hoilman singled to put runners on the corners and Davis made it 6-2 with a sacrifice fly to right. Logan Odom relieved Jimenez and struck out the next two batters to escape the inning.
With the Chiefs on top 6-2, the Kernels rallied in the ninth against Ben Wells who was working his fourth inning in relief of Concepcion. Abel Baker started the frame with a single and after a strikeout he moved to third on a pinch-hit double from Gary Mitchell. Moesquit floated a double between Pin-Chieh Chen and Easterling in left-center to tie the game as both runners scored. Wells struck out Ryan Jones and got Cowart to groundout to send the game to extras.
Davis led off the top of the 10th with a double to center of Joe Melioris. Giansanti singled home Davis for a 7-6 Chiefs lead before Oliver Zapata reached on a sacrifice bunt that was bobbled by the Kernels first baseman. Hernandez sacrificed both runners up 90 feet and Chen put the Chiefs up 9-6 with a double to right field with the infield in.
