Kane County Cougars News Release
GRAND CHUTE, Wisc. - Each team scored twice while down to their final, but it was the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, who scored last in a 7-6 victory over the Kane County Cougars on Sunday afternoon at Fox Cities Stadium.
Clinging to a 5-4 lead with two outs in the ninth inning, Chad Pierce surrendered a two-out single to Jorge Bonifacio before being lifted in place of Seth Harvey (3-0). Harvey coughed up a two-run bomb to Lane Adams, which brought the Cougars (23-21) up to a 6-5 advantage.
Robinson Yambati (1-1) surrendered four runs in the seventh inning which put Wisconsin (27-17) in front, 5-2. Yambati was still on the hill in the bottom of the ninth and issued three walks to fill the bases with two outs for Nick Ramirez. Ramirez hammered a single to right, scoring Brandon Macias and Max Walla, who beat Bonifacio's throw to the plate, giving the Rattlers a 7-6 walk-off win.
Brooks Pounders started for the Cougars and struck out a season-high eight while tossing six innings. He allowed just a run on four hits. David Goforth was the starter for Wisconsin as he coughed up two runs (one earned) on four hits in his five innings. Michael Antonio gave the Cougars their initial lead as he doubled home Adams in the second.
