Chiefs Win 4-2 Over Reading

Johnstown, PA- The Johnstown Chiefs picked up a much needed win Saturday night, as they defeated the Reading Royals, 4-2 at the War Memorial.

The Chiefs got on the board with first period goals by Ian Manzano and Dmitri Tarabrin. Reading would close the gap with a Mat Snesrud goal 7:37 into the second period. Tarabrin would answer just 3:10 later with his second goal of the night. Nick Lent scored Reading's other goal, shorthanded, with 5:21 left in the second period. Jason Notermann added an empty net goal for Johnstown.

Chiefs goaltender David Currie picked up the win making 40 saves, including 20 saves in the final period. Terry Deinke started in goal for the Royals allowing two goals and making 9 saves. Peter Hamerlik came in relief of Deinke in the second period allowing a goal and making 16 saves.

The Chiefs climb into sole possession of fourth place in the Northern division improving their record to 22-15-4. Reading falls to fifth place in the division with a 20-13-6 record.

The Chiefs are back in action tomorrow afternoon, when they close out their "three in three," weekend at Toledo (3:00 p.m.). Next Friday night, the Chiefs will host the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies and Saturday night they host the Reading Royals. Face-off is both games in 7:05 p.m. February 21st, when the Chiefs take on the Trenton Titans, Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s car will be on display at the arena.
