Wildcatters Shut-Out 4-0 By IceGators

Lafayette, LA (January 24, 2004) – The Texas Wildcatters were shut-out 4-0 in the final game of four straight against the IceGators. Louisiana took the lead in the first period on a power-play goal by Konstantin Kalmikov. Ben Storey and Jamie Johnson assisted on the only goal of the period. The rough play from last weekend returned as Clint Cabana and Jason Hamilton squared off for the fourth time in nine days and John Campbell mixed it up with IceGators defenseman Maxime Fortunus. Wildcatters goaltender Davis Parley turned away 23 of the 24 shots he faced in the opening period.

The two teams combined for 25 shots in a scoreless second period.

In the third period the IceGators' added three more goals to improve to 9-1-0 against Texas this season. Kalmikov scored his second goal of the game and finished the night with three points. Jamie Johnson and Ed McGrane also scored in the game for Louisiana. Derek Gustafson made 20 saves for his third shut-out and 14 win of the season. Parley suffers the loss despite making 52 saves.

The Wildcatters' return home to Ford Arena for a pair of games next weekend. On Friday night the Pensacola Ice Pilots return for their fifth visit to Southeast Texas. Saturday the Mississippi Sea Wolves will face-off against the Wildcatters for game seven of the Nextel Cup. Both games start at 7:05 p.m.
