Spokane Chiefs News Release
Wenatchee, Wash. - The Chiefs made the short trip to Wenatchee on Friday to face off against the Wild for the seventh time so far this season. Spokane came into the game tonight with a 3-3 record in the previous six matchups this year.
It was the home team who struck first just over three minutes into the game tonight with a goal from Friesen, assisted by Isogai. Spokane was on the penalty kill for a solid chunk of the period, killing off three separate penalties. The Chiefs would earn a power play of their own late in the period which would carry over into the second.
Wenatchee opened the second period with their second goal at just 2:05 thanks to a redirection from McCagherty. The Wild continued the pressure with another goal at 7:09, this time from Prosofsky to make it 3-0.
Spokane would get a lifeline late in the period with a snapshot goal from Cam Parr, his 4th of the season.
Spokane won a faceoff and dumped it deep into the attacking zone before Cheveldayoff picked up the loose puck and fed Parr for the close range wrister.
After two the Chiefs trailed 3-1 on the scoreboard and 28-15 on the shot count.
The third period saw Spokane put on the pressure, with ten shots to just five for the Wild. An untimely penalty late crippled any chances of a comeback and the game would end with the score remaining 3-1 in favor of Wenatchee.
Cowan made 30 saves in net for Spokane, who went 0/2 on the power play. The penalty kill was a bright spot, preventing the Wild from scoring with the man advantage on five occasions.
The Chiefs will return home for a pair of games starting on Saturday, March 16th. It will be a special 6:30 PM puck drop for the Miller Lite Saint Paddy's Day Jersey Sweepstakes and Avista Way To Save Poster Series Giveaway. The team will wear specialty Irish-themed jerseys that will be auctioned off with proceeds benefiting Big Table Spokane. Fans can also enter to win a blank replica specialty jersey courtesy of Miller Lite. Make sure to arrive early to claim a limited-edition Berkly Catton poster courtesy of Avista, while supplies last. Sunday is the regular season home finale with a rally towel giveaway and family feast night provided by Coeur d'Alene Casino.
