Chiefs Sign Former Golden Gopher; Two Other Roster Moves Made

Johnstown, PA - Johnstown Chiefs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Ian Herbers announced today that the team has signed forward Tyler Hirsch. Herbers also announced that defenseman Mike Knight has returned to the team after being loaned to the Binghamton Senators (AHL) and left wing Mark Tobin has been recalled to the Providence Bruins (AHL).

Hirsch, 23, started the 2007-08 season in the Finnish Elite League with HPK Hameenlinna. The 5'9, 180 LBS native of Bloomington, MN spent played college hockey at the University of Minnesota. In 2006-07 Hirsch had 4 goals and 22 points in just 15 games. In 143 career games at Minnesota, Hirsch had 31 goals and 117 points. He was a high school team mate of Chiefs defenseman Brian Deeth at Shattuck St. Mary's prep school in Minnesota.

Knight, 23, has played in fifteen games for the Chiefs this season, scoring 2 goals and 9 points. He was scoreless in four games with the Senators.

Tobin, 22, has appeared in 20 games for the Chiefs this season scoring 3 goals and 13 points.

The Chiefs hit the road this weekend as they are at Cincinnati Friday, Dayton Saturday and back in Cincinnati Sunday.

Johnstown is back on home ice next weekend when the take on Cincinnati Friday and Saturday night at the UPMC Health Plan Ice Rink at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena. Saturday night the Hanson Brothers will be making an appearance signing autographs and taking photos with fans.
