Chiefs Rally to Win In Atlantic City

Atlantic City, NJ- The Johnstown Chiefs gave one of their strongest efforts of the season in Tuesday's 3-2 shootout win over the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies at Boardwalk Hall.

The Chiefs finished the game with just eleven players as Jeff Zehr, Brent Kelly, and Jay Langager left the game with injuries. Jeff Sullivan and Richard Paul missed most of the third period with fighting and misconduct penalties.

Trailing 2-0 late in the third period, Chris Leinweber scored a power play goal with just 2:26 remaining. Shawn Mather tied the game with his 21st goal of the season with just 0:59 left in regulation. The Chiefs won the shootout by a score of 1-0 with a Dimitri Tarabrin goal.

Chiefs goaltender David Currie was named the games #1 star making 34 saves and stopping all five Atlantic City shooters in the shootout. Scott Stirling made 30 saves for the Boardwalk Bullies.

The Chiefs inch closer to third place w,ith a 39-19-6 record (84 points). Atlantic City is now 41-15-6 (88 points). Third place Peoria (87 points) lost 4-2 to Trenton earlier this evening.

The Chiefs next play Saturday night at Cincinnati. Sunday afternoon they host the Dayton Bombers (2:30 p.m.)Sunday, March 28th is Jeff Sullivan bobble head and Fan Appreciation Day. The first 2,000 fans through the gate will receive a limited edition Jeff Sullivan bobble head doll. In addition, hundreds of prizes will be given away at random for fans.
