Spokane Chiefs News Release

Kamloops, B.C. - The Chiefs traveled north for a one-off game against the Blazers on Wednesday night, marking the fifth and final encounter between the teams this season. Spokane entered the contest tonight with four wins out of four versus Kamloops so far in 2023-24.

It was a sloppy first period with both teams committing numerous turnovers. Spokane was called for two early penalties as well as a third at the end of the frame.

Just over midway through the period it was Lukáš Král who became the beneficiary of a fortuitous bounce in the attacking zone.

Král picked up the loose puck and went backhand to forehand before poking it home for his fifth score of the season. Feist with the lone assist on the play.

Nathan Mayes was called for the rare Closing Hand On Puck penalty late in the period and Kamloops would take advantage, scoring with just four seconds left to even the game at one each.

Kamloops would build on their late momentum from the first, jumping out to a 4-1 lead after the second 20 minutes. Bairos would score his 8th of the season just a minute into the period, followed by Pantelakis' 2nd of the season and Anderlini's first career WHL goal.

Nearly six minutes into the third, Kamloops would extend the lead to 5-1 thanks to a rebound goal from Keller.

Spokane would add a consolation with an incredible spinning effort from Roulette, but it was too little, too late.

The game would wrap up with a score of 5-2 in favor of Kamloops. The Blazers recorded 48 shots to just 31 for Spokane. The Chiefs were 0/3 on the power play and 4/5 on the penalty kill. With his goal tonight, Roulette has netted in three straight and is now riding an 11-game point streak. With an assist on that goal, Catton is also sitting at 11 consecutive games with a point.

Up next Spokane will continue the road trip with a pair of games at Prince George over the weekend. The Chiefs will return home on Tuesday, March 5th for TicketsWest Player Magnet Giveaway against the Victoria Royals. Puck drop is slated for 7:05 pm.
