Pats Start Strong, But Fall 6-3 in First Ever Meeting in Wenatchee

Wenatchee, Wash. - The Regina Pats had three different leads on Wednesday but fell 6-3 to the Wenatchee Wild inside the Town Toyota Center in their first ever meeting against the Wild in franchise history.

The Pats were able to string together three different one-goal leads in their first ever visit to the Town Toyota Center, going up 1-0 in the first before leading 2-1 after one and retaking the lead at 3-2 in the second stanza. Braxton Whitehead, Tanner Howe and Logan Peskett scored for Regina while Kelton Pyne made 30 saves in the loss.

The Wild overcame a 3-2 deficit in the second period and took a 4-3 lead into the third period before adding two more in the final period, with one being an empty netter. Graham Sward (1G-2A) and Karter Prosofsky (1G-1A) led the way with three-point games for the Wild while Kenta Isogai scored twice and Rodzers Bukarts added two points (1G-1A). Jonas Woo also scored for Wenatchee and Brendan Gee made 18 saves.

THE GOALS

First Period

1-0 Pats at 11:53 - Braxton Whitehead (12), assisted by Sam Oremba (PP) // On a mad scramble in the front of the net, Whitehead found the loose change and flipped it home to open the scoring midway through the first.

1-1 Wild at 14:54 - Rodzers Bukarts (12), assisted by Karter Prosofsky & Luka Shcherbyna // Prosofsky's shot from the right point was redirected home by Bukarts and past Kelton Pyne to tie the contest up.

2-1 Pats at 16:01 - Tanner Howe (26), unassisted // Cole Temple held the puck in at the line for the Pats, sent a low shot to the net that was stopped and after a couple of chances for Regina, Howe ripped it in to regain the lead at 2-1.

Second Period

2-2 Wild at 3:28 - Karter Prosofsky (9), assisted by Graham Sward & Miles Cooper // Prosofsky's shot from the point beat a screened Pyne to once again tie the game, this time at 2-2.

3-2 Pats at 8:41 - Logan Peskett (7), assisted by Zackary Shantz // Shantz found Peskett in the slot and he fired a shot that beat Gee under his arm that once again gave the Pats a lead at 3-2.

3-3 Wild at 15:38 - Kenta Isogai (28), assisted by Graham Sward & Dawson Seitz (PP) // Isogai got free in the slot and fired a shot past Pyne's outstretched glove to get the Wild on even terms at 3-3.

4-3 Wild at 17:52 - Graham Sward (15), assisted by Karter Prosofsky & Steven Arp // Sward's shot from the left point beat a screened Pyne to give the Wild their first lead of the game at 4-3.

Third Period

5-3 Wild at 8:11 - Jonas Woo (8), assisted by Ty Fraser & Rodzers Bukarts // Woo skated deep into the Pats zone and fired a shot that beat Pyne short-side, just inside the post to give the Wild a 5-3 lead.

6-3 Wild at 19:57 - Kenta Isogai (29), unassisted (EN) // Isogai sealed the game with a breakaway goal into an empty net to give the Wild a 6-3 lead.

Braxton Whitehead scored his 14th of the season giving him 12 points (3G-9A) in his last 10 games.

Sam Oremba notched an assist which gives him 14 points (7G-7A) in his last 12 games.

Tanner Howe scored his 26th of the season, and now has 15 points (3G-12A) in his last 10 games.

Logan Peskett notched his seventh goal of the season and sixth as a Pat. He has two goals in his last five games.

Zackary Shantz had an assist and now has seven assists in his last nine games.

The Pats have now dropped the first four games of their U.S. road trip.
