Geneva, IL - The Peoria Chiefs left seven runners in scoring position and allowed three runs in the eighth inning with two walks, a balk and an error in a 6-3 loss to the Kane County Cougars Wednesday night. The loss drops the Chiefs to 10-16 on the season and 2-5 on the current roadtrip.

The Chiefs jumped out to a first inning lead against Cougars right-hander Jason Mitchell. With two outs Wes Darvill singled and scored on a double to the wall in right-center by Paul Hoilman. Hoilman was left at third to end the inning with the Chiefs on top 1-0.

Zeke DeVoss doubled home Chen for a 3-2 Cougars lead before Taiwan Easterling walked. With two on and nobody out, Mitchell bucked down to get two strikeouts and a groundout to again escape the inning with the Chiefs down one.

Scott Alexander relieved Mitchell in the sixth and retired the Chiefs in order. Chen led off the seventh with a single and moved to third on an error by Mike Antonio at third base as Easterling reached second. Chen scored on a wild pitch to tie game but the Chiefs left Easterling at third.

A balk from Wang scored Mateo and gave Kane County a 4-3 lead. After a walk to Jorge Bonifacio, Andrew McKirahan took over for Wang on the hill and struck out Calixte. Watts added to Kane County's lead with a double to left-center for a 6-3 Cougars advantage.

The Chiefs brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth inning as Marco Hernandez reached on an infield single and DeVoss reached on an error at shortstop. Nick Graffeo relieved Alexander and got Easterling to bounce into a 5-3 double play to end the game.
