Spokane Chiefs News Release

Spokane, Wash. - The Chiefs closed out the regular season home schedule on Sunday in the 8th and final game versus U.S. Division newcomer, Wenatchee Wild. Spokane honored player award winners from the '23-24 season in a pregame ceremony, including the inaugural Terry Bratman Players' Player Award, named for the Chiefs' longtime scout who operated out of Alberta from 1990-2017.

Berkly Catton (High School Scholastic Player of the Year, Player of the Year), Ben Bonni (College Scholastic Player of the Year, Terry Bartman Player's Player), and Chase Bertholet (Ken Rabel Most Sportsmanlike Player, Humanitarian of the Year) each took home two awards, while Saige Weinstein (John "Hitman" Hern Defenseman of the Year) and Owen Martin (Rookie of the Year) were recognized for one award each.

The Chiefs would grab the lead late in the first thanks to a pair of quickfire goals from Ty Cheveldayoff and Shea Van Olm.

After a battle along the boards, Bonni centered it to Cheveldayoff who patiently deked the netminder and found the net.

Up next was the Chiefs' number 20 to make it 2-0 after a rebound out front.

Chiefs' point leaders Berkly Catton and Conner Roulette provided the assists on Van Olm's goal.

Brayden Crampton was next on the scoresheet to get the second period started.

And now Number 3 puts us up by 3!

His wraparound attempt snuck through for his 9th score of the year and number 3 made it 3-0 at the 1:17 mark.

Conner Roulette would add his second point of the night with a goal of his own just a few minutes later.

An aggressive forecheck led to a turnover before Shea Van Olm slid the puck over to Roulette waiting in the faceoff circle. The 20-year-old made no mistake, blasting home his 44th of the year.

Just 35 seconds later Spokane added their fifth goal of the night, ensuring that everyone in the crowd would go home with a free Doritos Locos Taco courtesy of Taco Bell.

Don't worry guys, we've got your dinner plans covered! How about some Doritos Locos Tacos because that's GOAL 5!!!!

It was a trio of Chiefs' rookies combining for the goal this time, with Paupanekis and Harrington feeding Král for his 8th of the season.

Wenatchee would prevent Cooper Michaluk's first career shutout with a goal at 13:21 in the second from Prosofsky. Jonas Woo and former Chief Luka Shcherbyna provided the helpers.

Conner Roulette added his second goal of the night later in the period with assists from his linemates Berkly Catton and Shea Van Olm.

The third was a chippy, but goal free, period as the Chiefs defense continued their strong play. Spokane went 1/4 on the power play and 2/3 on the penalty kill with Cooper Michaluk making 20 saves on 21 shots faced.

For the second straight night it was a balanced offensive display for the home team. 12 different skaters recorded points with Roulette (2G, 1A, +2), Van Olm (1G-2A, +2), and Catton (2A, +2) leading the way.

Spokane will close out the regular season on the road next weekend with games at Seattle and Tri-City. Stay tuned to SpokaneChiefs.com and social media for more info to come on playoff ticket availabilities.
