
Chiefs Announce 2023-24 Player Awards in Pre-Game Ceremony Sunday

The Spokane Chiefs named Berkly Catton their Player of the Year and High School Scholastic Player of the Year in a pre-game ceremony on Sunday night in the Spokane Arena. Catton enters the final three games of the regular season with 52 goals, 59 assists and 111 points. In the classroom, Catton he an average grade of 85% in courses including English, Psychology, Math, Biology, and History.
Nineteen-year-old Ben Bonni was selected by his peers as the first ever winner of the Terry Bartman Players' Player award. The three-year veteran has scored a career high six goals, 16 assists and 22 points while playing both forward and defense. Bonni was also named the team's College Scholastic Player of the Year. By the end of this season, he will have earned 10 credits from Spokane Community College in English 101 and Business 101 with an almost perfect grade point average.
Chase Bertholet was named the team's Humanitarian of the Year and Ken Rabel Most Sportsmanlike Player of the Year. The 20-year-old is third on the team in scoring with 23 goals, 46 assists and 69 points. In 59 games, Bertholet has registered just 20 penalty minutes. Off the ice, Bertholet approaches each opportunity to interact with Chiefs fans and media with eagerness and a smile. Bertholet enjoys growing relationships with Chiefs fans and always encourages his teammates to do the same.
Saige Weinstein, the team leader with a +18, was named as the John "Hitman" Hern Defenseman of the Year. In his third year, Weinstein has set career highs with 10 goals, 15 assists and 25 points.
Owen Martin, a 16-year-old from Oakbank, Manitoba, earned the Chiefs Rookie of the Year award. The forward has 14 goals and nine points in 52 games. All-time, he is 11th in franchise history for single season goals as a 16-year-old.
