
Warriors Power Play Strikes as Pats Fall 6-3

Regina, Sask. - The Moose Jaw Warriors struck twice on the power play early in the game as the Pats fell 6-3 on Sunday afternoon inside the Brandt Centre before a crowd of 4577.
With the Warriors taking a 3-0 lead early in the second, the Pats got life when Corbin Vaughan ripped home his fourth of the season to cut into the Moose Jaw lead at 3-1 going into the third. After a strong start to the final stanza, Zane Rowan would deposit home his seventh of the season to get Regina within one.
That's as close as the Pats would get. The Warriors scored three more times to take a 6-2 lead before Anthony Wilson's ninth of the season got the Pats within three in the dying minutes.
Brayden Yager would lead the way for Moose Jaw with four points (1G-3A) while Matthew Savoie tallied three assists and Jagger Firkus scored twice. Denton Mateychuk also picked up a pair of assists in the Warriors second straight win, and Lynden Lakovic Pavel McKenzie and Atley Calvert (1G-1A) rounded out the scoring. Dimitri Fortin made 21 saves for his fifth win of the season.
Carson Haynes had the Pats only multi-point game with a pair of assists. Vaughan, Wilson and Rowan found the back of the net, while Corban Almen extended his point-streak to four straight with a helper. Ewan Huet was saddled with the loss, making 30 saves.

First Period
1-0 Warriors at 16:34 - Brayden Yager (34), assisted by Denton Mateychuk & Matthew Savoie (PP) // Yager got the puck at the top of the right circle and he let a slapshot go that beat Huet low to the blocker side to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead late in the opening period.
2-0 Warriors at 19:51 - Atley Calvert (46), assisted by Matthew Savoie & Brayden Yager (PP) // Calvert got behind the Pats' defence in the slot and was able to hammer home a shot from just outside the blue paint to give the Warriors a 2-0 lead in the last minute of the first period.
Second Period
3-0 Warriors at 3:07 - Pavel McKenzie (14), assisted by Atley Calvert & Matthew Savoie // McKenzie managed to find himself alone in front of Huet and he fired the puck five-hole to give the Warriors a 3-0 lead.
3-1 Pats at 16:43 - Corbin Vaughan (4), assisted by Dru Mushumanski & Carson Haynes // Vaughan skated into the right circle and from the dot wired the puck past Fortin to get the Pats on the board at 3-1.
Third Period
3-2 Pats at 2:58 - Zane Rowan (7), assisted by Corban Almen & Ty Gibson // The Pats skated in with numbers and Almen sent a pass in the slot to Rowan and he went backhand shelf to beat the Warriors tender to pull the Pats wo within one at 3-2.
4-2 Warriors at 4:36 - Jagger Firkus (55), assisted by Brayden Yager & Lucas Brenton // Firkus threw the puck at the Pats net and it glanced off Huet's mask and in to give the Warriors a 4-2 lead.
5-2 Warriors at 10:32 - Jagger Firkus (56), assisted by Brayden Yager & Denton Mateychuk // Firkus received a pass in the slot and his one-timer beat a sprawling Huet to make it 5-2.
6-2 Warriors at 17:40 - Lynden Lakovic (?), assisted by Max Finley // Lakovic got sprung on a long breakaway and beat Huet five-hole to make it 6-2.
6-3 Pats at 18:09 - Anthony Wilson (9), assisted by Carson Haynes // Wilson wacked the puck mid-air to beat Fortin, making it 6-3.

Zane Rowan continued to add to his career-best totals notching his 7th goal of the season. Six of his seven goals have come in the second-half.
Ty Gibson picked up his first point in six games with a helper on the Pats' second goal.
Corban Almen picked up an assist and has points in a career-high four straight games (1G-4A).
Anthony Wilson has scored in back-to-back games.
