Chicago Wolves News Release
GLENVIEW, Ill. - The Chicago Wolves are proud to announce the grand opening of the Chicago Wolves Skating Rink at Brookfield Zoo. The rink makes its debut on Saturday, Nov. 3, and will be open to the public through Jan. 31.
The Chicago Wolves rink can be found on the zoo's East Mall, but it's not your typical rink. The surface is made of Glice, an eco-friendly synthetic material that does not require water or electricity to maintain. Brookfield has become just the third zoo in America to install a Glice rink.
"It's an honor to team up with Brookfield Zoo to give people the chance to enjoy something new for the holidays," said Wolves President Mike Gordon. "We hope the opening of the Chicago Wolves Skating Rink marks the start of another must-do tradition for families throughout the Chicago area."
"We are thrilled to be partnering with the Chicago Wolves to bring this exciting, new attraction to our guests," said Chicago Zoological Society CEO Rich Gamble. "The skating rink will be a great addition to the variety of winter activities taking place at Brookfield Zoo this holiday season, including the annual Tree Trim event and Holiday Magic festival, and the inaugural Reindeer Run and Lights & Lagers."
Regular hours for the rink are noon to 4:30 p.m., but the hours on Holiday Magic days are 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. All Saturdays and Sundays in December are Holiday Magic days along with Dec. 26-28 and New Year's Eve. It's just $7 for skaters and everyone is welcome to bring their own skates. There are a limited number of rental pairs available for $5.
