Chicago Wolves Claim Amtrak Rivalry for Fifth Time in Six Years
April 14, 2015 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Chicago Wolves News Release
The Chicago Wolves have captured the Amtrak Rivalry trophy again as they clinched the 2014-15 series with their 4-1 victory over the Milwaukee Admirals on April 10.
The Wolves have posted a 7-2-2-0 record in their first 11 games against the Admirals this season. The champion is determined on a points basis and the Wolves own an insurmountable 16-10 advantage going into the teams' final regular-season meeting at 7 p.m. Saturday at Allstate Arena.
"Congratulations to the Chicago Wolves! Amtrak is proud of their success in the rivalry series and we're honored to support such a talented team," said Tracy Robinson, Amtrak's marketing director.
Ray Lang, Chief of State Government Affairs for Amtrak, will present the Amtrak Rivalry trophy to Wolves general manager Wendell Young during intermission of Saturday's game. This marks the fifth time in six years the Wolves have claimed the trophy. The Admirals had their only chance to hoist the trophy following the 2012-13 season.
The Wolves have clinched a playoff berth for the 17th time in their 21-year history and will release their Calder Cup Western Conference Quarterfinals schedule following Sunday's 4 p.m. home game against Toronto.
