Chicago Sky single game tickets on sale April 9

CHICAGO, April 1, 2009 - Regular-season single-game tickets for the Chicago Sky's 2009 season will go on sale on today, April 9 at 9:00 a.m. (CDT). The Sky will tip off the team's fourth season on the road Saturday, June 6 against the Minnesota Lynx and play the season home opener on June 12 against the Atlanta Dream at 7:30pm at the UIC Pavilion. The Sky will host the first-ever Basketball Battle of the Sexes game when the Sky suits up to take on an all-male team from the Entertainment League on June 2 at 7:00 p.m. at the UIC Pavilion.

Single game tickets can be purchased by calling 866.SKY.WNBA, at chicagosky.net, in person at the UIC Pavilion Box Office, and at all Ticketmaster outlets. Tickets can also be purchased by calling Ticketmaster at 1-877-WNBA-TIX (962-2849). For the first time the Sky is offering a special Pre-Sale opportunity for single game tickets for Sky season ticket holders. Tickets will be available for purchase by season ticket holders on April 6 at 10:00 a.m. (CDT) through midnight on April 8.

The single game ticket on-sale date is scheduled to coincide with the 2009 WNBA Draft, televised live on ESPN2 at 2 p.m. (CDT). The Sky has the third overall pick along with the 16th (second round) and 29th (third round) overall selections.

Sky season tickets are available starting at $190. Season ticket holders receive many exclusive benefits, including the Sky's best ticket value, the same seat for all home games, discounts at the Sky Store, passes to a closed Sky practice, a private post-game ice cream party with the players, early 90 minute access to the UIC Pavilion, a kid-only clinic and discounted parking.

The Sky has many options for group outings, from pre-game, on-court experiences to fundraisers to kids' birthday parties, casual picnic-style gatherings or corporate receptions. Sky fans can also choose to watch the game from the Skyline Club, the Sky's unique, courtside skybox, with dinner and beverage service. Each Skyline Club ticket includes an assigned seat in one of three courtside rows, and open seating at 26 tables in the Club, along with parking and unlimited food and beverage. The Sky is one of six independently-owned teams in the WNBA, the world's longest-running women's professional sports league. Chicago finished fifth in the Eastern Division with a 12-22 record in their third season. Sylvia Fowles, Chicago's rookie center, ranked third in blocks per game and fifth in double-doubles with six. Forward Candice Dupree ranked third in defensive rebounds, fourth in rebounds per game and third in double-doubles with nine. Guard Jia Perkins ranked fourth in the league in steals, fifth in the league in free-throw percentage and seventh in points. The Sky plays at the Chicago's UIC Pavilion.
