NEW YORK April 1, 2009 - The WNBA and its member teams are partnering with Ticketmaster to offer WNBA fans their first opportunity to purchase individual game tickets for the league's 2009 season. Beginning Thursday, April 9, at 10 a.m. local time in each market, fans will be able to obtain single-game tickets by going online to either ticketmaster.com or wnba.com/tickets, or by calling 1-877-WNBA-TIX. Tickets also will be available for purchase at team box offices, Ticketmaster outlets and at the NBA Store in New York.

The WNBA's 13th season will tip off on Saturday, June 6, when the Los Angeles Sparks, featuring a pair of the players from the WNBA's All-Decade Team - Lisa Leslie and Tina Thompson - host the defending WNBA champion Detroit Shock, led by all-star guards Deanna Nolan and Katie Smith, MVPs of Detroit's victories in the 2006 and 2008 WNBA Finals, respectively. A farewell tour by the iconic Leslie, who has announced that 2009 will be her final WNBA campaign will also highlight the 2009 season. A number of all-stars suiting up for new clubs, including Thompson and Yolanda Griffith, now of the Indiana Fever, will lend a new look to the league.

Fans will also have the opportunity to take part in specially themed games including, "Dads & Daughters Day," "Go Red for Women Week," "WNBA Green Week," "WNBA Breast Health Awareness Week," as well as a variety of locally themed events.

The single-game tickets on-sale date is scheduled for the morning of the 2009 WNBA Draft presented by adidas, which will be conducted at NBA Entertainment studios in Secaucus, N.J. and televised live on ESPN2 at 3 p.m. ET.
