CHICAGO - The Chicago Sky has signed Brooke Queenan to a training camp contract, Head Coach and General Manager Steven Key announced today. Per team policy, terms of the contract have not been released.
Queenan, a 6'2" forward, is a 2006 graduate of Boston College. She was named to the All-ACC Second Team her senior year and led the Eagles with 14.8 points and 8 rebounds per game. She was selected by the Connecticut Sun in the 2006 WNBA Draft, appearing in four pre-season games. In 2007, Queenan was invited to the Seattle Storm's training camp and was waived on May 1. During the 2007-08 off-season, Queenan played overseas for Team Aris Haroglou in Greece.
Sky training camp begins on April 23 at ATTACK Athletics, located at 2641 W. Harrison Street. Media day is scheduled for the week of May 12, when all returning Sky veterans are expected to be back in Chicago from their respective international teams.
The Sky is one of seven independently-owned teams in the WNBA, the world's longest-running women's professional sports league. The Sky tips-off its 2008 season on May 17 against the Seattle Storm and plays the season home opener on May 22 against the Sacramento Monarchs at 7:00pm at the UIC Pavilion. The Sky celebrated its inaugural season in 2006, and finished a successful sophomore season with a 14-20 record and guard Armintie Price named WNBA Rookie of the Year. The team chose 6'6" LSU star Sylvia Fowles with the number two pick in the 2008 WNBA Draft. For more information and to purchase 2008 season tickets, visit www.chicagosky.net.
