CHICAGO (June 6, 2014) - The Chicago Fire Soccer Club announced Friday that the club has loaned Alec Kann to USL PRO side Charlotte Eagles. The Fire will retain the option to recall Kann during the loan period.
"This is a good move for Alec to play meaningful matches and gain consistent minutes, which is important for any young player," said Chicago Fire Head Coach and Director of Soccer Frank Yallop. "To have this mechanism in place that allows our players these opportunities is invaluable."
The second-year "Ëkeeper has four reserve appearances this season, including two starts. Kann recorded shutouts in a 4-0 win over Marquette University on April 6 and a 0-0 draw against the Richmond Kickers on May 18.
A native of Decatur, Ga., Kann joined the Fire on March 19, 2013 from the Charleston Battery (USL PRO) where he spent the 2012 season. The 6'4" keeper earned National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-South Region honors, All-Southern Conference honors and NSCAA Scholar All-America accolades in 2011 after guiding the Paladins to a 14-4-4 record and NCAA Tournament berth.
