
LA Galaxy Academy U-18's Claim Southwest Division Championship

CARSON, Calif. (Friday, June 6, 2014) - The LA Galaxy Academy Under-14 return to U.S. Soccer Development Academy action when they host Central California Aztecs U-14's at StubHub Center's Field 5 on Saturday, June 7 at 10:00 a.m. PT.
In their last encounter, the LA Galaxy Academy U-14's, opened the inaugural season of U.S. Soccer Development Academy U-14 division with a 4-1 win over the Central California Aztecs at the Kern County Soccer Park in Bakersfield. Last Saturday, the Galaxy U-14's tied 2-2 against Strikers FC U-14's with goals from Salvador Segura and Leonardo Zulli.
After Saturday's action, the Galaxy Academy U-14's will play three games the weekend of June 13 at Grand Park Sports Campus in Westfield, Indiana as part of a USSDA showcase. The first game of the showcase for Mike Muñoz's team is a match against Solar Chelsea SC U-14's on Friday, June 13 at 4 p.m. at Grand Park Sports Campus' Field 12.
LA GALAXY ACADEMY U-18'S CLAIM SOUTHWEST DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP: The LA Galaxy Academy Under-18 claimed the Southwest Division Championship in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy after crushing Strikers FC by a score of 14-1 last Saturday morning at StubHub Center's Field 5 in what was the LA Galaxy U-18's last game in the USSDA regular season. Six different Galaxy U-18 players scored in Saturday's victory, as Axel Mendez (six goals), Aaron Lombardi (two goals), Adonis Amaya (two goals), Ryo Fujii (two goals), Sebastian Velasco (one goal), and Christian Chavez (one goal) all scored to secure the Galaxy U-18's Southwest Division title. The Galaxy U-18's had already qualified for the 2013-2014 Academy Playoffs ahead of last Saturday's match, after receiving an automatic bid to the 2013-14 Postseason. The Galaxy U-18's Academy Playoffs schedule will be announced in the coming weeks.
