Impact Signs Defender Mechack Jerome

MONTREAL - The Montreal Impact announced on Friday that the club has come to terms on a deal with Haitian defender Mechack Jerome, pending his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) clearance. As per MLS policy, details of the contract were not disclosed.

Jerome, 24, was part of the backline that helped Sporting Kansas City win the 2013 MLS Cup. In two seasons with SKC, he played 12 regular season games, including 10 starts, while also playing in three CONCACAF Champions League games and one Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup game.

He previously played with the Austin Aztex in 2010 before joining Orlando City SC in 2011 and 2012, winning the USL Pro Championship in his first season in Florida.

Prior to making the jump to the United States, he played with Baltimore SC in Haiti and Mirandela in Portugal.

At the international level, Jerome played 29 games for the Haitian national team, most notably during the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup, the 2008 and 2012 Caribbean Cup and 2010 Wold Cup qualifying matches.
