Chicago Fire FC News Release
CHICAGO - Chicago Fire FC will travel to Harrison, N.J. to face the Montreal Impact at Red Bull Arena on Saturday, Oct. 3. The match is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. CT and will be broadcast live on WGN-TV and ESPN+ and transmitted locally in Spanish on 105.1 WOJO-HD2. The pregame show, presented by CIBC, will begin at 6:15 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
Heading into Sunday's match, the Fire (4-7-3, 15 points) are coming off back-to-back clean sheet wins at home, producing a 4-0 win over the Houston Dynamo on Sept. 23 and a 2-0 victory over Atlanta United FC on Sept. 27. After completing a six-point week, the Fire moved into a playoff position in the Eastern Conference standings.
Forward Robert BeriÃâ¡ found the back of the net for a fourth consecutive game in the team's 2-0 win over Atlanta United. With a goal against Montreal on Sunday, BeriÃâ¡ will match a Club record for consecutive games with a goal, previously set by former Fire midfielder David Accam in the 2017 campaign. BeriÃâ¡ leads the Fire with six goals scored in 2020.
Fire goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth, who recorded his fourth shutout of the season and the 45th of his career, made a season-high five saves versus Atlanta on Sunday night.
Sunday's contest marks the first meeting between the Fire and Montreal in 2020. In 2019, the two teams split the head-to-head regular season series, with each side winning their home game.
Montreal (5-8-1, 16 points) currently sit in eighth place in the Eastern Conference. After suffering a 4-1 defeat to the New York Red Bulls on Sept. 27, the Impact have lost four straight games in league play. Midfielder Romell Quioto leads the team in goals scored (six).
The three Canadian clubs - Montreal Impact, Toronto FC and Vancouver Whitecaps FC - will continue their seasons in accordance with travel protocols. Home games are slated for the Montreal Impact at Red Bull Arena (Harrison, N.J.), Toronto FC at Rentschler Field (East Hartford, Conn.), and Vancouver Whitecaps FC at Providence Park (Portland, Ore).
