Chicago Fire FC News Release
CHICAGO - Chicago Fire FC today announced a venue change for the Club's home match against New York City FC on Wednesday, Sept. 29. Due to a conflict at Soldier Field with the Chicago Bears schedule, the Fire will host NYCFC at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Ill., at 7:00 p.m. CT (WGN-TV, CFFC Live, TUDN 1200 AM).
Per the lease agreement with Soldier Field, the Fire are unable to play games at the venue within five days of a Bears home game. With the Bears set to host the Detroit Lions on Sunday, Oct. 3, the Fire's Sept. 29 home match against NYCFC fell within that five-day window.
Additionally, due to SeatGeek's partnership with SeatGeek Stadium, fans who currently have tickets to the match will receive a refund from Ticketmaster today and will be able to re-purchase tickets through SeatGeek. Season ticket holders will receive a link to purchase tickets at an exclusive rate beginning at 10:00 a.m. CT on Friday, Aug. 27. Individual tickets and group tickets will go on sale to the general public on Saturday, Aug. 28 at 10:00 a.m. CT. For additional details, fans are encouraged to email the ticket sales team at tickets@chicagofirefc.com.
As part of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, the Sept. 29 match will support Major League Soccer's annual Kick Childhood Cancer campaign. Kick Childhood Cancer-related events and observations will take place in-stadium, digitally, and on the Club's broadcast.
The match will mark the first time the Fire have played a regular season game at SeatGeek Stadium in two seasons. Chicago's last league match at SeatGeek Stadium occurred on Sept. 29, 2019. Overall, the Fire hold a 101-54-74 record in 229 games played at the venue.
Chicago will continue its longest road trip of the 2021 season on Saturday, Aug. 28 against the New York Red Bulls at Red Bull Arena. The match will begin at 5:00 p.m. CT on WGN-TV, CFFC Live and TUDN 1200 AM.
