Windy City ThunderBolts News Release
Crestwood, IL- The Cook County Cheetahs (15-18) won two games today over the Mid-Missouri Mavericks (15-19). In game one, which was a continuation of a suspended game from June 8, the Cheetahs won 11-10. The Cheetahs were able to come back from a 9-3 deficit, scoring six runs in the final two innings. RBI's by Mack Paciorek, Kevin Brown, Sean Bischofberger and Mark Walker, helped lead the Cheetahs to the big come back win. Winning pitcher for the Cheetahs was Dan Wells (1-0). Tom Davidson made his Cheetah debut in earning his first professional save.
In game two, the Cheetahs won the game in dramatic fashion in the bottom of the seventh. Randy Reed led off the inning with a triple on the first pitch that he saw. After a Chuck Van Robays strikeout, the Mavericks then walked the bases loaded. Damon Burkhart then drove the winning run in with a sacrifice fly to deep center field. Mike Ott (2-3) earned the win in relief of starting pitcher Adam Palmer.
"We had a talk before the games today, and it seemed to work. We did everything right this evening. Randy Reed came through, hitting the first pitch for a triple, and then Burkhart drove him in. Our situational hitting today was great. We will just have to take this one day at a time and climb our way up towards the top," said Cheetahs Manager Mike Moore..
The Cheetahs will have a noon game tomorrow, as it is day camp day at Hawkinson Ford Field. On Thursday, the Cheetahs will conclude the series with the Mavericks. For ticket information call 708.489.2255.
