
Rockford Defeats Grizzlies

Rockford, IL-The Rockford RiverHawks (17-16) defeated the Western Division leader Gateway Grizzlies 4-2 on a warm night at Marinelli Field. Frank James (4-1) continued his fine season as he shut down the Gateway offense for seven innings. James, allowed two runs (1 earned) and at one point retired twelve batters in a row. Tony Pigott and Ben Fjelland each went 3-for-4 with a RBI to lead the RiverHawks offense. Joe Dooley (1-2) picked up the loss for Gateway; he allowed three runs on eight hits. The RiverHawks now trail Gateway by 2.5 games in the division.
Rockford will be back in action tomorrow afternoon at 1:05 p.m. against Gateway. Jason Shelley will face Joe Buck of Gateway. It will be the Big Splash Extravaganza at Marinelli Field. There will be slip ân' slides, a moonwalk, hose downs by supersoakers, and many more fun events. Also, be sure to pack your suitcases as two fans will be flying away to sunny Ft. Lauderdale, Florida for 4 days and 3 nights straight from the game.
Midwest Championship Wrestling will be at Marinelli Field on July 12. The action starts at 7:00 p.m., with gates opening at 6:00. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased by calling the RiverHawks at 964-BALL.
The Rockford RiverHawks are hosting a Los Lobos concert in the Marinelli Field parking lot on Sunday, July 27. Gates open at 12:00 p.m. and the concert begins at 1:00 p.m. People who have tickets to the concert will get into the game for free and concessions will be open. Tickets are on sale now.
