Crestwood, IL- It was a happy Fourth of July at Hawkinson Ford Field this evening as the Cook County Cheetahs (18-19) beat the Rockford RiverHawks (20-17) by a score of 4-1. The Cheetahs got an outstanding performance from starting pitcher Grant Williams (5-3). Grant Williams now leads the league in complete games, as it was his fourth of the season. RBIs by Warren Gaspar, Stuart Rykaleski, Kevin Brown and Chuck Van Robays helped the Cheetahs scoring tonight. The losing pitcher for the RiverHawks was Scott Sobkowiak. His record now falls to 3-5 on the season.
The Cheetahs will conclude the three game series with the RiverHawks tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. with fireworks to follow. For ticket information please call 708.489.2255.
