Checkers Trade For Blueliner Scuderi

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - General manager and head coach of the Charlotte Checkers Derek Wilkinson announced today that the team has traded for defenseman Ken Scuderi from the Augusta Lynx in exchange for future considerations.

Scuderi, 6-foot-2, 205 pounds, played the last three seasons with the Lynx. During that time, he played 183 games garnering 11 goals, 49 assists for 60 points with 121 penalty minutes. The Bethpage, N.Y. native played four seasons at Clarkson University from 2001 thru 2005. He dressed in 133 collegiate games totaling four goals, 20 assists for 24 points with 102 penalty minutes.

"He is a terrific stay at home defenseman and will be a nice addition to our blueline. We look forward to seeing his performance on the ice and expect him to be part of the Checkers leadership off the ice," said Wilkinson.

The Checkers are getting ready for their 16th season of play as a member of the ECHL. Opening night will take place on Halloween against the Augusta Lynx at a special 8 p.m. start. In the team's 15-year history, the Checkers have made the playoffs 11 times including four consecutive playoff appearances to date.
