December 1, 2014 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Charlotte Checkers News Release
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Ã-Ã-Ã-The Charlotte Checkers have partnered with SHARE Charlotte to host several local non-profit organizations for "#GivingTuesday" at Time Warner Cable Arena.
The event, held in conjunction with the Checkers' 7 p.m. game against the Norfolk Admirals on Dec. 2, will feature a Tweet Up networking event with 64 participating organizations during the first intermission. During the game, the Checkers will be the first to announce the amount of volunteer hours donated from the annual event, which will be promoted with the #GivingTuesdayCLT hashtag on social media. Representatives from the Checkers and SHARE Charlotte will be available for interviews at the Lowe's Home Court area during the first intermission.
Giving Tuesday is a national event that offers a charitable alternative to recent commercial events like Black Friday and Cyber Monday. In Charlotte, Wells Fargo's Duke Energy Center will be lit purple throughout the day, which mayor Dan Clodfelter has officially proclaimed as "#GivingTuesdayCLT Powered by SHARE Charlotte."
Individuals can participate in the movement by visiting www.GivingTuesdayCLT.org through Dec. 2 to make a monetary donation directly to the nonprofit of their choice or to pledge volunteer hours for 2015.
SHARE CHARLOTTE is the most consolidated "collection of good" in Charlotte - providing easy access to hundreds of nonprofits, their volunteer opportunities, donation needs and event information. For more information, visit sharecharlotte.com.
