Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
SPRINGFIELD, MASS. - The American Hockey League announced today Hamilton Bulldogs forward Charles Hudon has been selected as the CCM/AHL Rookie of the Month for November.
Hudon recorded five goals - including three game-winners - and nine assists for 14 points in 12 games for the Bulldogs last month.
Hudon began November with points in four straight games from Nov. 2-8, then scored both Hamilton goals in a 2-1 overtime victory over the St. John's IceCaps on Nov. 14. Hudon scored the tying goal in a 2-1 Bulldogs overtime win versus the Toronto Marlies on Nov. 21, then picked up the game-winning goal along with two assists as Hamilton downed the Marlies, 5-1, on Nov. 23. Hudon closed out the month with his second overtime goal, clinching a 4-3 decision over the Lake Erie Monsters on Nov. 29.
Hudon, a 20-year-old native of Alma, Que., leads all AHL rookies in scoring this season and is first on the Bulldogs in goals (seven), assists (14), points (21) and plus/minus (+9) while skating in all 20 games so far. A fifth-round draft pick by the Montreal Canadiens in 2012, Hudon played four seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with the Chicoutimi Sagueneens and Baie-Comeau Drakkar and was the QMJHL's offensive rookie of the year in 2010-11.
In recognition of his achievement, Hudon will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Bulldogs home game.
The Bulldogs will be back in action on Tuesday, Dec. 2 when they'll visit the Adirondack Flames at Glens Falls Civic Center in Glens Falls, N.Y. at 7 p.m. The 'Dogs return home on Friday, Dec. 5 when they'll host the Toronto Marlies for Military Appreciation Night at FirstOntario Centre at 7:30 p.m.
