Checkers Murphy And Frischmon Get Called Up

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Hartford Wolf Pack and Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League have each called up a Checkers forward to their lineups.

Ryan Murphy has been signed to a Professional Tryout agreement (PTO) by the Wolf Pack. In 10 games with the Checkers this season, the 5-foot-11, 185 pound forward scored one goal and added five assists for six points, with four penalty minutes. Murphy was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League in the sixth round of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. He played the last three seasons with the Manchester Monarchs (AHL) and appeared in 29 games last season picking up five goals and five assists for 10 points.

Also, Trevor Frischmon has been called up to the Crunch. Frischmon, 5-foot-11, 195 pound forward, started this season with Syracuse and registered an assist in two games. He split last year's season with both the Crunch and the ECHL's Dayton Bombers. In 33 games for Syracuse, he garnered seven assists and in Dayton he played 24 games racking up five goals and eights assists for 13 points.

The Checkers began their 15th season of play as a member of the ECHL. The next home game takes place on Nov. 23 against the Texas Wildcatters. In the team's 14-year history, the Checkers have made the playoffs 10 times including three consecutive playoff appearances to date. The Checkers will enter their third season of play at St. Lawrence Homes Home Ice at Charlotte Bobcats Arena this fall. Season tickets are on sale now with full-season packages starting at just $399.
