FRIDAY'S PREVIEW: The Checkers take on the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies in the first of three meetings to be played this season at Cricket Arena. The six-game season series will feature two more games to be played at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. Charlotte is 0-1-0 versus the Bullies this season after falling in New Jersey on Nov 27 by a score of 7-3. Kevin Colley leads Atlantic City in scoring at (25g-29a-54pts) but is currently on loan to the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL. The Bullies enter the week in first place in the Northeast Division with a record of 25-8-9 for 59 points.
SATURDAY'S PREVIEW: The Checkers will play game five of the eight-game season series when they host Roanoke. The Checkers are 2-2-1 against Roanoke so far this season, including 1-1-0 in the two previous games played at Cricket Arena. Rookie left wing Jason Jaffray leads the Express and the entire East Coast Hockey League in scoring with 29 goals and 37 assists for 66 points. The Express also has two other players in the league's top ten in scoring in Rick Kowalsky and Dylan Gyori. Entering this week Roanoke is only five points off the lead in the Northeast Division with a record of 26-16-2 for 54 points.
CHECKERS RECENT MOVES AND TRANSACTIONS: Monday, January 20 â Loaned left wing Dave Inman to the Hartford Wolf Pack.
NEWS AND NOTES:
* The Checkers have lost three of their last four games.
* Charlotte is 5-4-1 in its' last ten games.
* ALLAN EGELAND has scored at least a point in 11 of his last 12 games, with five goals and ten assists for 15 points in that span.
* The Checkers are six points out of the fourth and final playoff spot in the Northeast Division, with games in-hand on every team in the division. In mid-December Charlotte was 17 points out of the final playoff spot.
* Takahito Suzuki is the Checkers lone representative in the 11th annual Compuware ECHL All Star Game, to be played Tuesday in Fort Myers, Florida.
* Nick Bilotto is tied for 10th in scoring by defensemen (8-19-27) while Kurt Seher is tied for the 14th spot at (6-20-26).
* The Checkers are 8th in the ECHL on the power play at 20.4%.
