
Rochester Heads to Cincinnati for Two Games this Week

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans travel to play the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks twice this week. The two teams are separated by just points in the battle for second place in the Central Division.
The second-place Amerks (14-17-11-3, 42 points) are coming off a 3-3 tie with the Hamilton Bulldogs on Sunday. With the tie, Rochester's winless streak has now reached 10 games (0-5-4-1). The Amerks try to earn their first win of 2003 during their two-game series against the third-place Cincinnati Mighty Ducks. The first game is on Friday, January 24th at the Cincinnati Gardens at 7:35 p.m. The Amerks end the road trip on Saturday with a 7:35 p.m. game against the Mighty Ducks.
Cincinnati (12-20-8-4, 36 points) enters the contest after dropping a 4-1 decision to the San Antonio Rampage on Sunday. The Ducks are 8-9-3-3 at home this season and 2-1-1 against the Amerks. The last time these two teams met, Cincinnati defeated the Amerks 3-2 on January 11th.
The games are the fifth and sixth of the season against the Ducks. Rochester plays Cincinnati eight times and this weekend is the second trip to the Cincinnati Gardens for the Amerks. The game on Friday is on WHTK 1280-AM and Saturday's contest is on WHAM 1180-AM. Both games will be web cast on www.amerks.com.
Rochester returns home on Wednesday, January 29th to face the Houston Aeros at 7:05 p.m. The game is the third of four meetings between the two teams. The Amerks are 0-2-0 against the Aeros this season. The game is the beginning of a two-game set against Houston, which concludes on Friday, January 31st at The Blue Cross Arena. · Rochester Americans left wing Jason Botterill will represent the Amerks at the 2003 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic, February 2-3.
· Botterill, who will play for the Canadian All-Star team, leads the Amerks and the AHL with 27 goals... He also has a team-leading 41 points (27+14) in 45 games... He is 13th in the AHL in scoring.
· Goaltender Ryan Miller was named the Eastern Conference goaltender in the Topps/NHL YoungStars Game on Saturday, February 1st... He joins former Amerks Henrik Tallinder and Taylor Pyatt on the Eastern Conference's roster.
· Chris Taylor is tied for second in the league with 35 assists... He is also tied for 15th in the AHL with 40 points (5+35) in 35 games.
· Sean McMorrow is second in the AHL with 210 penalty minutes.
