
Checkers Cub Club Partners With Junior Checkmates

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Charlotte Checkers Cub Club coordinator Anna Skidmore announced that they are entering into a partnership with the Junior CheckMates Cheerleaders for the 2008-09 season.
The Junior CheckMates will be running an early bird registration fee from Sept. 18- 30 and with this new partnership, members of the Junior CheckMates will automatically become a Kids Cub Club member with a one-time registration free of $100. Included upon registration is opportunity to perform on the ice with the CheckMates, a uniform, set of pom-poms and five game tickets. Fans can sign up by visiting www.gocheckers.com.
"The Junior Checkmates are a valuable asset to the Cub Club and will provide unique opportunities to our younger fans," stated Skidmore.
Former Checkmate Celia Thompson is thrilled about the upcoming season and kicking off the Junior CheckMates alongside the Cub Club, "The goal was to see the Junior Checkmates partner with the Cub Club and become an integrated part of the Charlotte Checkers. We are very excited to see this become a reality and give the young Charlotte Checkers Fans something else to cheer about!"
There are many exciting things planned for Cub members for the 2008-09 season. Cub Club members will receive six tickets to pre-selected Checkers games (10/31, 11/23, 12/19, 1/18, 2/8 & 3/20) along with monthly winners selected for prizes of various contests. Members also receive a t-shirt, access pass and a monthly newsletter chronicling all the latest Checkers news and upcoming events.

The Checkers are getting ready for their 16th season of play as a member of the ECHL. Opening night will take place on Halloween against the Augusta Lynx at a special 8 p.m. start. In the team's 15-year history, the Checkers have made the playoffs 11 times including four consecutive playoff appearances to date.
