Steelheads Invite Fans To Hockey 101 Icebreaker

BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads throw open the doors at Qwest Arena and invite fans to join them for a day of fun on Sunday, Oct. 5 from 3 pm - 5:30 pm to learn about hockey and meet the 2008-09 team. The Hockey 101 IceBreaker event is free and open to the public.

Steelheads head coach Derek Laxdal, back from the NHL's Dallas Stars training camp, will wear a wireless mic and spell out the A,B,C's of the game of hockey while fans sit back and enjoy the first scrimmage of the season. Immediately following the Hockey 101 session, fans will have an opportunity to meet the players, get autographs, and take photos with their favorite Steelheads.

Fans can try on Steelheads hockey gear to get a feel for what it's like to be a player, play bubble hockey on the concourse and hang out with Steelheads mascot Blue. Trophies and awards will be on display and concessions will be open. Season ticket holders will receive free Papa Murphy's pizza and Pepsi products.

Everybody who comes will be entered into a raffle to win great Steelheads prizes, including a 20-game flex ticket plan.

The Steelheads want fans to come out and show their support of the team as the 2008-09 Idaho Steelheads begin their quest for their third ECHL Kelly Cup Championship!
