June 18, 2021 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Charlotte Independence News Release
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte Independence announced that fans and Jack's Brigade Members of the team will be assured a local flavor at their 2021 games. With the signing of three exceptional local craft brewing partnerships, fans should expect to have a wide variety of promotions and a plethora of beers to choose from at the all-new American Legion Memorial Stadium.
"Our recent fan survey told us our fans like craft beers, they like to support local businesses, and they like community conscious companies," stated Tim Schuldt, President & COO for the Independence. Schuldt continued, "These partners are exceptional brewers and pillars in our community who give back to Charlotte every day. We couldn't be more thrilled to promote their products and deliver our fans what they want."
The first partner includes long-time Independence loyalist and Charlotte favorite NoDa Brewing Co. NoDa has won countless awards for brewing excellence at the Great American Beer Festival, The World Beer Cup competitions and other competitions. NoDa also craft brews the Independence signature brew, 1775 Pale Ale. NoDa also has been recognized as the Small Business of the Year from the Association of Fundraising Professionals and continues to serve the community through multiple philanthropic initiatives each year.
President of NoDa Brewing Co. Suzie Ford stated, "We've been with the Independence since the inception! No way could we not join them and continue to support soccer at their new home, American Legion Memorial Stadium. It will be our pleasure to serve the fans a little Hop Drop 'N Roll and many other of their NoDa Brewing favorites."
The second partner that signed up was another local stalwart in the craft brewing world, Birdsong Brewing Co. Birdsong Brewing Co. continues to brew with excellence and provides the Independence fans with over 20 varieties of beer throughout the year, with a strong passion for IPA's Ales and Lagers. Birdsong continues a strong commitment to sustainability with over 12 on-going initiatives the brewer implements, including going solar for their facilities on Davidson Street in the CLT.
"We were thrilled when the Independence reached out to us! First we love soccer, and can't wait to serve the fans and Jack's Brigade members," stated Chris Goulet, President of Birdsong Brewing Co. Goulet added, "We also value relationships with those that support local small businesses. We're excited to see the Independence in their new stadium and even more excited to join them there!"
The new "kid" on the block, so to speak, and nearly next-door neighbor to American Legion Memorial Stadium, Devil's Logic Brewing signed on as the third and final partner of the Independence. Devil's Logic Brewing serves the Elizabeth and Cherry neighborhoods and is quickly becoming a destination spot for Charlotte's craft beer enthusiasts. Due to their wide variety of exceptional award winning beers, tasty food menu, patio skyline views, and easy parking it's the Logical choice for an after game libation!
Brian Wallace, Co-Owner of Devils Logic was excited to be the third partner with the Independence and their new stadium. "Our brewery hopes to bring additional life to this area of Charlotte and make it a better place to live and visit. The area is growing fast and with the new stadium, it's going to be a great opportunity to introduce Devil's Logic beers to soccer fans from all over the region! We look forward to a great season ahead!"
With over 60 beers brewed by the three partners in any given year, Independence fans and Jack's Brigade members will have a great variety of options to enjoy at the 13-game home schedule in 2021. The partners beers will be featured at home-game tailgate parties for Jack's Brigade members in the tailgating lot adjacent to American Legion Memorial Stadium.
