(Akron, OH)-Chad Jenkins earned his first win at Double-A, working seven innings, and the Fisher Cats used a 12-hit attack to beat Akron 8-5 on Thursday night at Canal Park and to move back into first place by a half-game in the Eastern Division of the Eastern League.

Jenkins (1-1), Toronto's top draft pick in 2009, the 20th overall selection (Kennesaw State), retired 14 batters in a row from the first inning through the sixth. He allowed five hits and four runs, walking one and striking out five.

The Fisher Cats (39-26) took two of three in the series from the Aeros, winning a series in Ohio for the first time in franchise history. In the top of the first inning, Adeiny Hechavarria singled to start the game and Anthony Gose reached on a catchers interference error. After a wild pitch, Mike McDade hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Hechavarria with the game's first run.

Akron (32-35) tied the game in the bottom of the first on a solo home run by first baseman Beau Mills, his fourth of the season.

New Hampshire took the lead for good by scoring two runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings. In the third, John Tolisano (2-for-3) led off the inning with a double, scoring on a two-base hit down the left field line by Hechavarria (3-for-4). McDade doubled in Hechavarria to give the Fisher Cats a 3-1 lead.

In the top of the fourth inning, Moises Sierra led off with a double and scored on a double by Tolisano. Hechavarria singled home Tolisano to make it 5-1.

Travis d'Arnaud and McDade reached on singles in New Hampshire's fifth inning and Sierra tripled both runners home for a 7-1 lead, ending the night for Akron starter Matt Packer (2-7).

Akron scored its final three runs against Jenkins in the bottom of the seventh inning. Travis Hafner, continuing his MLB rehab assignment, doubled, Matt McBride walked, and Nick Weglarz hit a three-run home run.

The final runs came after a 28-minute rain delay after the seventh inning. Yan Gomes homered for New Hampshire in the top of the eighth, and Weglarz homered again, off Bobby Korecky, in the bottom of the ninth inning.
