New Britain Rock Cats News Release
New Britain, CT - With the City of New Britain tightening its fiscal belt to the point where it may be forced to cancel its annual Fourth of July fireworks display, the Rock Cats - the Minor League Baseball team that is proud to call the Hardware City home - is attempting to help their city neighbors fill this celebratory void.
The Eastern League club is inviting all New Britain residents to join them at New Britain Stadium on July 1st and 2nd where - for just $1 per ticket - they'll have an opportunity to enjoy three great American traditions: family, baseball, and fireworks.
"We completely understand the City's need to prioritize public expenditures", said Rock Cats' CEO Bill Dowling, "times are tough everywhere. At the same time, the people of New Britain have been so supportive of us over the years that we want to do something to help - particularly for those families who were looking forward to taking their kids to see the fireworks. What we end up doing will not be nearly as expansive as what the City has done in the past - but we hope it will bring smiles to the faces of a lot of people who have been very good to the Rock Cats."
On Friday night, July 1st, the Rock Cats will do baseball battle at 7:05 PM with Harrisburg, the Eastern League affiliate of the National League's Washington Nationals. Following all the exciting baseball action on the diamond, a Post-Game Fireworks Show will begin - dramatically illuminating the central Connecticut skies!
On Saturday evening, July 2nd, the arrangement actually gets better. On that night - starting at 5:05 PM - the Rock Cats and Harrisburg will play two games - an old-fashioned Doubleheader! - thus allowing New Britain residents to double their pleasure by seeing both games for the same $1 Admission fee! And, following the conclusion of Game 2, there will be a terrific, in-stadium Post-Game Pyroteknics Show that is sure to please fans of all ages.
All New Britain residents need do to take advantage of this special July 4th Weekend / $1 Ticket arrangement is bring a current Driver's License and/or other proof of identity/residency to the New Britain Stadium Box Office or Ticket Window - pay the buck - and they're in! And once in, sit back and enjoy your companions, the ballgame - and the Post-Game Spectacular that will light up the skies!
