Club de Foot Montreal News Release

MONTREAL - CF Montréal will begin a stretch of five of six games at home this Saturday, starting with a matchup against Wayne Rooney's D.C. United at 7:30pm EDT at Stade Saputo for the first time this year (Apple MLS Season Pass, RDS, TSN, BPM Sports, TSN 690).

This will be the first matchup against D.C. this year as Montreal aims to extend its winning streak against the visitors to three games. Wayne Rooney's men haven't earned a win in Montreal since a 3-0 result on August 31, 2019. Last year, CF Montréal swept the two-game regular season series against D.C. including a 1-0 result at Stade Saputo on October 1.

Importantly, with a win on Saturday, the Montrealers would reach the 100-win milestone (across all competitions) at Stade Saputo since the Club joined MLS.

The Club also unveiled this week its lineup of match theme nights for all home games as part of the Club's 30th anniversary celebrations. The main 30th anniversary celebrations will take place on Saturday, May 13 at Stade Saputo, during the derby match against Toronto FC, nearly 30 years to the day after the very first game in Montreal's history, in Los Angeles on May 14, 1993. In addition, various new offerings will be available to fans attending Saturday's match at Stade Saputo and continue throughout the remainder of the season.

As for the opponent, D.C. will be just as hungry to collect all three points, having won just once in their first seven games to start the year (1-4-2 overall record). The visitors have won just once in their last 13 road games and haven't found the back of the net in 10 of those games. Forward Christian Benteke remains the visitors' main offensive threat. The Belgian has scored three of the club's seven goals so far this season.
